The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), the Japan–Taiwan Exchange Association (JTEA), the Australian Office, and the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei (CTOT) jointly convened the 2025 Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) Joint Committee Meeting in Taipei on September 30, 2025. This year’s meeting invited the British Office Taipei to participate as an observer.
The meeting was attended by MOFA’s Director General of Department of North American Affairs, Liang-yu Wang; AIT Deputy Director, Karin Lang; Australian Office Deputy Representative, Dan Stuart; JTEA Taipei Office Director of General Affairs, Michi Kakizawa; and CTOT Director of Political, Economic, and Public Affairs, Charles Hudon, representing the GCTF partner countries.
The meeting reviewed the achievements of GCTF activities over the past year and held in-depth discussions on planning franchise events in 2026, as well as on domestic cooperation issues. Next year’s GCTF classic activities will focus on communications resilience, cybersecurity defense for critical infrastructure, countering transnational repression, and energy resilience. The partners also committed to strengthening the impact evaluation mechanism, deepening cooperation, and actively promoting youth participation to enhance overall influence and sustainable development.
Since its launch in June 2015, the GCTF has entered its tenth year. It has held over 90 workshops, attracting participation from 135 countries and more than 10,000 people. The GCTF has grown into a vital global platform for advancing international cooperation. The framework continues to welcome the active participation of like-minded countries to expand cooperation and jointly address global challenges.
