From October 1 to 2, the Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) hosted the International Workshop on “Impacts of Climate Change on the Ocean," bringing together 161 participants, including 38 international representatives from 21 countries. The event convened officials, experts, scholars, civil society leaders, and non-profit organization representatives to exchange best practices and insights on critical ocean-related challenges.
Key topics covered at the workshop included ocean health monitoring, disaster risk assessment, sustainable blue economy practices, and the development of legal frameworks to support international cooperation in ocean protection. Participants also explored innovative technologies for ocean monitoring and disaster response strategies.
The workshop was co-hosted by the five GCTF full partners: Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), the Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association (JTEA), the Australian Office Taipei, and the Canadian Trade Office in Taipei. Key Taiwanese agencies, including the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Ocean Affairs Council (OAC), National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction (NSTC), and the Kaohsiung City Government, also contributed to the event's success.
The workshop underscored the importance of international cooperation in addressing the impacts of climate change on oceans and further strengthened partnerships among GCTF members and global stakeholders.
