Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The National Human Rights Commission, and Ministry of Digital Affairs joined hands with American Institute in Taiwan, Japan-Taiwan Exchange Association, Australian Office in Taipei, and Canada Trade Office Taipei, as well as Institute for Information Industry, to host the "Global Cooperation and Training Framework (GCTF) International Workshop on Human Rights in the Digital Age" from November 15 to 17, 2023, in Taipei.
This international seminar brought together government officials, scholars, tech industry professionals, and civil society representatives from 18 countries in the Indo-Pacific and Latin American regions. The focus was on sharing challenges and strategies related to human rights issues arising from the development of the internet and digital technologies. Key themes included promoting the value of internet freedom, regulating and safeguarding artificial intelligence, countering technology misuse, and strengthening digital inclusion. The event showcased Taiwan's collaborative efforts with GCTF partner countries to narrow the digital divide, protect data, and safeguard human rights.
